Idaho Mountain Lion Hunts

If you are interested in taking one of the most unique trophies North America has to offer, this is a great place to do it. These incredible predators normally weigh between 90 and 160 pounds and routinely kill healthy deer and elk. You could easily spend a lifetime hunting these animals without dogs and never catch a glimpse of one. Fortunately, with a couple of well-trained hounds such as we have, mountain lion hunting is a very successful endeavor. Weapon choice is up to you. As long as you're proficient, mountain lions can be harvested using rifles, handguns or archery tackle.

Lion season begins December 14 and ends February 16 in Idaho. Montana mountain lion hunts take place from December through March.

Northern Idaho has an abundance of bobcat and the season is concurrent with much of the lion season. If you'd like you can combine a bobcat hunt with your Idaho mountain lion hunt.

We offer two options on the Idaho mountain lion hunts and/or bobcat hunts. The first option is to choose a variable length hunt based on a $400/day (for 1 person) rate. There will be an additional trophy fee of $400 for bobcat and $2000 for a mountain lion. You choose the length of the hunt in advance, pay for that number of days, and then pay the trophy fees on any animals taken. If we tree an animal (bobcat or mountain lion) and you choose not to take it you will not be required to pay the trophy fee.
The second option is a guaranteed mountain lion hunt for a flat fee of $6000. The way it works is that if we don't catch a mountain lion that meets your standards you can come back at no extra charge until you do get your cougar. We'd suggest planning for at least a 7 day hunt for the initial attempt. Bobcats would also be an option on this hunt for a trophy fee of $400.

In order to meet the demand for mountain lion hunting we are now also booking hunts in Montana. These hunts are offered in cooperation with some quality Montana outfitters who provide meals and lodging during the hunt. The outfitters employ us as guides for the hunt. 2002 was the first year we've done this and it worked out very well. All 4 clients filled their tags and a good time was had by all. Heavy rain and overnight freezing temperatures made the 2003 hunt a tough one but we did manage to get 2 lions for 3 hunters. In 2004 all 3 hunters we guided in Montana took lions and in 2005 we were 2 for 2 in 2 days. Beginning in 2006 Montana has gone to a drawing for lion tags in the portion of the state in which we hunt. If a person can draw one of these tags he'll be in for a fantastic hunt. If you're interested in applying please contact me and I'll advise on when, where and how to apply. These hunts are priced at $5500 for a 7 day hunt, and there's no sales tax in Montana.
