Buckshot outfitting -- about us -- Clint Gray

My name is Clint Gray. I was born and raised in northwestern Montana (very similar to northern Idaho). We lived quite a distance from town so there wasn't a whole lot to do besides hunt, trap, and fish, and that Ugly one in the middlewas fine with me. I attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman and earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in wildlife management. As part of my graduate degree requirement I conducted a mule deer study in south-central Idaho for the Idaho Fish and Game. I've also been involved in research of mountain lions, wolves, and coyotes. In addition to the wildlife work, I was guiding for other outfitters every fall and winter. I discovered that guiding was one of the most rewarding jobs I'd ever had and decided to make a career of it. After several years of researching various outfitting areas available I arrived here in northern Idaho in 1998. My primary criteria in choosing concerned the area's potential to produce truly trophy-class whitetails, as well as good densities of lion and bear. The tremendous moose hunting opportunity here was a huge bonus when they finally started allowing nonresidents to draw tags. I'm eager to retain my reputation as an honest hardworking outfitter and would welcome a call or a letter to discuss what I have to offer you.

We have a bunkhouse next to our home for lodging our hunters. For a photographic tour of the bunkhouse click here. It has 3 small bedrooms, a bathroom and a living area with a microwave and TV/VCR/DVD. Clean bedding and towels are provided so no need to worry about packing sleeping bags and such. The bunkhouse is warm and comfortable. Your meals are at the house with our family. Cherry has been getting lots of compliments on her cooking so I assume she's been doing a good job! Each morning you will be served a hot or cold breakfast (depending upon your preferences and what type of hunting we're doing), given the materials to make a sack lunch, and then your guide will take you to the day's hunting area via 4x4 vehicle. At the end of the day you'll be returned to the house and bunkhouse where you can relax until Cherry gives the call for supper.
