Idaho Elk Hunts
Elk hunting in this part of northern Idaho is a challenge. There are decent numbers of elk, and they have a good age structure with mature bulls, but they’re in heavy cover and can be tough to hunt. We offer archery and rifle hunts for elk but stress that a person needs to be in good physical condition to have reasonable odds of success. The archery season coincides with the peak of the rut so we concentrate on calling at that time. The early part of the rifle season overlaps with the tail end of the rut and we sometimes are able to get responses to bugling for use as a locater. Hiking, glassing and cow-calling are the main techniques employed during rifle season.
