Bear Hunts
Baiting and the use of hounds is not permitted in the northernmost hunting unit in Idaho. This results in a relatively dense population and a good age structure. Older bears mean bigger bears and we also have a large proportion of colored (chocolate, cinnamon, and blond) bears. These factors combine to create an excellent opportunity for a true trophy. Although there are spring and fall seasons, success is better in the spring (April 15 to May 31). Hunting will be primarily spot and stalk during the last 2 weeks of May. During the first 2 weeks of May we offer baited hunts in the southern portion of our area where the use of bait is permitted.
